About The Position

The Product Compliance Engineer will play a key role within the Quality organization, ensuring that all Brightstar products meet required safety and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) certifications. This role supports cross-functional project teams by guiding compliance efforts from concept through launch, ensuring alignment with global regulatory standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with engineering to maintain robust documentation, manage testing protocols, and interface with certification bodies. Project management experience is highly desirable, as the role involves coordinating multiple certification timelines and deliverables. The ideal candidate will proactively identify compliance risks and contribute to design and development improvement initiatives. This role can be hybrid in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Candidate must live in or near Rhode Island.

Requirements

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced in-depth knowledge of and/or skills in: electronics design, circuit design, product safety, EMC.
  • Fundamental knowledge of AC power and DC electrical circuits.
  • Experience with MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Experience self-managing time to complete tasks per project schedule.
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Align safety standards certifications from marketing specifications and requirements through production release.
  • Resolve complex methods to achieve certification in a timely and efficient way with testing labs and contract manufacturers.
  • Participate in all aspects of product development including detailed design, evaluation safety and EMC testing of prototype designs before sending them to labs.
  • Participate in design reviews to have a good understanding of the product features and options to align with proper test standards in jurisdiction that are required.
  • Develop and execute an organized data filing system to easily retrieve and maintain certifications and reports on existing and future products.
  • Responsible for critical components to comply with safety reports to minimize violations found during factory inspections when there is a non-compliant finding.
  • Participate in the diagnosis, evaluation, and solution to problems that arise in the compliance of safety and EMC.
  • Plan and execute tests to ensure conformance to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers on all aspects of product safety development.
  • Participate in the knowledge of new or revised safety and EMC standards.
  • Oversee yearly quotations of factory inspections to assess compliance with relevant safety standards and factory assessment requirements.
  • Create Declaration of Conformity (DoC) for each product.
