  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week.
  • Willingness to learn from others on the job.
  • Methodical, data-based problem-solving and decision-making, including product problem-solving and product failure-mode avoidance.
  • Ability to follow and contribute to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Technical Function standards and practices.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn systems requirements engineering, product interface management and integration, analytical modeling, and test integration and optimization.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn hands-on product verification and validation processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred.
  • Nine to twelve months of co-op availability is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate product, test-system, and process problems; understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate actions, take ownership of problem resolution, and document results with guidance from experienced team members.
  • Apply and support process and quality improvements, including test-system specification, design, and validation, using tools such as FMEA, 7-step problem solving, and process hazard analysis.
  • Obtain input from and negotiate with laboratory customers, laboratory technicians, and component suppliers to deliver test-system requirements, processes, and instructions.
  • Make decisions about component selection, calibration processes, and operating processes that affect test-equipment accuracy, reliability, and operating costs.
  • Own resolution of moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems, or services, maintaining accountability to the project team.
  • Independently execute established work processes and systems while developing technology and product knowledge and contributing to continuous process improvement.
  • Direct and coordinate technicians and temporary student employees as needed, and contribute to team goals and influence the work group.
  • Support engineering staff in research and development, product design and development, validation, test engineering, or reliability.
