About The Position

We are seeking a Product Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing products, coordinating the manufacturing process, and working with various teams to create industry-relevant solutions. You will transform ideas into high-end products that meet customer needs, utilizing component selection software and 3D modeling tools. The position requires researching new technologies, updating existing designs for improvements, and creating models, prototypes, and documentation. You will also be responsible for testing and validating designs, keeping current with industry trends, and optimizing designs for production. Troubleshooting customer issues, assisting factory personnel, and supporting Marketing and Sales with technical materials are also key aspects of this role. You will contribute to project budgets and timelines, propose cost-reduction initiatives, and maintain product documentation. This role provides technical guidance and expertise, particularly in HVAC solutions, and involves developing and executing product development testing plans, guiding testing technicians, and analyzing HVAC systems for optimization. The role requires a strong understanding of Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Electrical principles, Simulation & Modeling, Test Data Analysis, and Sound & Vibration as applied to HVAC equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to generate creative solutions, develop designs from concept to completion, and demonstrate attention to detail.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
3+ years of HVAC related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
In depth knowledge of principles and practices of engineering, preferably in the HVAC and manufacturing industries
1+ year experience with 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or Solidworks
In-depth knowledge and experience with AutoCAD
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to visualize theoretical models and design idea
Microsoft Office required
Refrigeration and hydronics experience
Excellent analytical and design skills

Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision

Heat Transfer - Demonstrated knowledge of condensing, evaporating and single-phase heat transfer. Understands application of heat transfer theory to HVAC heat exchangers.
Thermodynamics - Demonstrated knowledge of application of thermodynamics to HVAC. equipment. Understands the thermodynamics of refrigerants and glycol solutions used in chiller systems.
Electrical - Understands fundamental electromechanical devices such as motors and actuators; power electronic devices such as VFD, starters, switchgears; and control system devices such as PLCs, and temperature, pressure, and flow sensors.
Simulation & Modeling - Understands fundamental principles of single phase CFD, finite element analysis, vapor compression cycle calculations. Can guide coworkers in the analysis of detail case studies, problems, and simulations.
Test Data Analysis - Ability to provide accurate and sound conclusions from large arrays of test data.
Sound and vibration - Understand fundamentals of noise and vibration applied to HVAC equipment.
Design - Generates creative solutions. Develop designs from concept to completion. Demonstrates attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Design products and coordinate the manufacturing process of those products.
Work with the engineering team to design innovative new products.
Work closely with the sales and design teams to create industry-relevant products that meet project and company specifications.

Test and validate new designs and updates.
Keep current on product and component technology improvements and industry trends to effectively perform functions of the position.
Work with manufacturing to optimize design for production.
Troubleshoot customer issues.
Assist factory personnel with testing and assembly.
Assist the Marketing and Sales Departments with technical training and materials.
Assist development of, and work within, project budget and timelines.
Propose new ideas and initiating cost reduction and product improvement effort to increase overall value of product.
Maintain product documentation to assure engineering documentation, drafting documentation, and products are consistent.
Give advice, analyze information, and provide technical guidance within a specific function for others within the organization.
Consult, design, test and innovate HVAC solutions for clients of every size; as well as lead projects and provide design expertise.
Develop and execute Product Development testing plans in support of engineering objectives.
Guide testing technicians during testing.
Analyze HVAC systems and equipment when necessary to find inefficacies or malfunctions and create solutions to optimize performance and increase the efficiency of operation.
