Product Platform: Product Engineer

Baseten•San Francisco, CA
•$165,000 - $330,000

About The Position

Baseten is hiring Software Engineers with strong product and customer sense for its Product Platform organization. The team builds enterprise-hardened products on top of Baseten’s inference platform: the surfaces customers, partners, and their agents use, as well as systems and products that support developer productivity, including agentic platforms. The role involves owning customer-facing features end to end: speaking with customers to define problems, designing and shipping solutions, and iterating after launch. The engineer works closely with product and design as a peer and contributes across commercialization, billing and partnerships; developer productivity and agentic development; and enterprise controls such as identity, access, governance, and account lifecycle management. The work emphasizes production-ready platforms and systems, phased validation with internal and external customers, clear prioritization, and ownership of ambiguous problems.

Responsibilities

  • Own customer-facing features from understanding users and defining problems through design, launch, and iteration.
  • Build platforms and systems that scale and perform well in production, rather than one-off features or scaffolding.
  • Ship in phases and work directly with internal and external customers to validate and iterate.
  • Prioritize competing customer requests based on impact and make clear prioritization decisions.
  • Collaborate as a peer with product, design, forward deployed engineering, and go-to-market teams, contributing ideas as well as implementation.
  • Build systems that support how customers buy, integrate, and use Baseten across billing, partnerships, and developer and agentic tooling.
  • Take ownership of ambiguous problems, move quickly, and drive work to completion with little process.
  • Quickly learn new problem areas and grow the role’s scope as the team and product expand.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity.
  • For U.S. employees, 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
  • Flexible PTO policy, including a company-wide Winter Break when offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot.
  • For U.S. employees, company-facilitated 401(k).
  • Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering learning and networking opportunities.
