About The Position

Gradial is building an AI-native system of work for enterprise marketing, using agents to execute campaigns across existing enterprise tools, teams, and workflows. As its first dedicated security engineer, the Staff Security Engineer, Product & Platform will own product and platform security end to end and shape how secure agentic systems are designed, built, and operated as the company scales. This is a hands-on Staff individual-contributor role with responsibility for setting technical security direction, building key systems and controls, and partnering closely with engineering. The role works alongside the IT and compliance lead, who owns GRC and corporate IT, and has significant autonomy to prioritize security investments. The position covers security strategy, threat modeling and protections for the agentic platform, application and cloud infrastructure hardening, secure-by-default engineering patterns, platform detection and incident response, and technical security discussions with enterprise customers. It also owns technical controls supporting SOC 2 in partnership with the IT and compliance lead and helps identify future security capabilities and recruit additional security team members. The annual salary range is $220,000–$265,000, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications. Gradial describes its environment as fast-paced and high-growth, and offers flexible work hours and a collaborative culture focused on learning and impact.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in security engineering, including Principal- or Staff-level ownership across complex production systems.
  • Deep product security experience, including threat modeling, secure architecture, authentication and authorization, and multi-tenant systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud security, Kubernetes, IAM, and infrastructure as code.
  • A strong technical point of view on securing LLM and agent-based systems, with the ability to reason about emerging risks from first principles.
  • Experience leading security incident response for production services and improving systems based on lessons learned.
  • A track record of writing and shipping production code, security tooling, or infrastructure, rather than only reviewing others’ work.
  • Strong judgment and comfort making pragmatic security tradeoffs in fast-moving environments without an established playbook.
  • Clear communication with engineers, company leadership, and enterprise customer security teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an early security hire at a high-growth B2B SaaS, AI, or infrastructure company.

  • Experience implementing technical controls for SOC 2 or ISO 27001, or contributing to AI security research, standards, or open-source security tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive product and platform security strategy, prioritizing investments against the most important risks as the company scales.
  • Lead threat modeling for the agentic platform and design protections for agent behavior, permissions, isolation, customer data, and platform boundaries.
  • Harden application and cloud infrastructure, including production access, IAM, secrets management, and the CI/CD supply chain.
  • Partner with engineering to build secure-by-default patterns into the design and delivery of agents, services, and infrastructure.
  • Own platform security detection and incident response, including logging standards, detection coverage, and response processes.
  • Represent technical security in enterprise customer reviews and architecture discussions, explaining the approach to customer security teams.
  • Own technical controls that support SOC 2 in partnership with the IT and compliance lead, ensuring controls remain effective as systems evolve.
  • Identify future security capabilities and help hire future security team members.
