The team is responsible for calculating patient and member out-of-pocket expenses throughout the care journey, including pre-visit estimates and federal price transparency compliance. This is a full-stack engineering role with a strong emphasis on backend development, focusing on the estimation engine, cost-estimation algorithms, and the data processing and APIs that support them. The work is central to the platform, involving complex technical challenges and offering opportunities for growth in technical ownership and leadership. The role is ideal for candidates motivated by the mission and complex challenges.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of AWS (ECS, Lambda, or similar compute/deployment services)
  • Comfort working in Angular for full-stack contributions
  • A knack for complex, rules-driven business logic
  • Healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM) experience, particularly with 837/835 EDI transactions
  • Familiarity with price transparency, No Surprises Act, or Good Faith Estimate regulations
  • Experience with Snowflake or large-scale claims/remittance data pipelines
  • Experience with monorepo tooling (Nx) or microservice architectures
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4-6 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of both internal and external sources.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build backend services in NestJS/TypeScript for cost estimation and related data processing
  • Work with historical claims and remittance data to make estimates more accurate
  • Build and maintain integrations with external systems involved in cost calculation and compliance workflows
  • Contribute to Angular front-end work where estimates surface in patient- or member-facing tools
  • Design services so internal calculation methods can evolve without breaking how other teams integrate
  • Work within AWS infrastructure for deployment and scaling
  • Help shape architecture decisions as the platform grows and consolidates
