About The Position

The Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill’s Co-op program aims to develop future engineering and leadership resources while providing high-quality process support. Co-op assignments offer opportunities for growth and education on career paths within the organization, with the goal of preparing interns for full-time engineering roles. This position will assist the Production Team in achieving safety, quality, production, cost, and product development objectives for a paper machine process line in an engaged, team-focused environment.

Requirements

Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Enrolled in a Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or similar Engineering degree program.
Living in or willing to relocate to the Stevens Point, Wisconsin area from May – August 2027.
Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials, including development of trial plans and authoring trial reports.
Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups.
Learn and provide technical support to process engineers and coordinators with Proficy, Centerlining, Optivision and Aspentech software systems.
Monitor, assess, analyze, and optimize process quality and conditions.
Monitor, assess, and analyze process variability.
Reduce environmental impact.
Provide technical support for key departments.
Provide problem solving and analytical skills.
Follow Ahlstrom’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
Assist and/or lead safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, cost control, compliance, and housekeeping projects.
Support machine manager in leading a paper machine process line, including daily and long-term activities.
Support operations/maintenance efforts and drive continuous improvement.
