About The Position

The Product Development Manager is responsible for supporting the development, optimization, and maintenance of new and existing products from concept through commercialization. This role oversees product formulas, ingredient documentation, sensory evaluation processes, facts panel management, and other product development tasks. The ideal candidate combines strong technical formulation expertise with cross-functional collaboration skills to drive innovation while ensuring regulatory compliance, quality, and market readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields.
• 5+ years of experience in nutraceutical, dietary supplement, or functional food product development.
• Demonstrated experience managing formulas and technical documentation.
• Strong knowledge of FDA dietary supplement regulations and labeling requirements.
• Experience creating Supplement/Nutrition Facts panels.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and raw material suppliers.
• Formulation expertise across multiple delivery systems (capsules, tablets, powders, liquids, other).
• Proficiency with formulation software and nutrient calculation tools.
• Understanding of ingredient functionality, stability, and bioavailability.
• Knowledge of cGMP, quality systems, and regulatory frameworks.
• Minimal travel (5% or less per year)

Responsibilities

• Support the development of new formulas.
• Support reformulations and product improvements to enhance efficacy, stability, cost-efficiency, and consumer appeal.
• Maintain ownership of all master formulas and version controls.
• Evaluate ingredient compatibility and stability.
• Collaborate with suppliers on ingredients and formulas and assess technical documentation.
• Manage and maintain ingredient documentation.
• Ensure compliance with FDA dietary supplement regulations and cGMP standards.
• Partner with Regulatory and Quality teams to support label claim substantiation and other technical documentation.
• Review global regulatory considerations for international markets as applicable.
• Lead sensory evaluation programs.
• Develop and maintain sensory standards and protocols.
• Work with flavor houses and contract manufacturers to optimize organoleptic properties.
• Provide support on stability testing and shelf-life studies.
• Create and verify Supplement Facts and Nutrition Facts panels.
• Calculate ingredient contributions, serving sizes, and % Daily Values.
• Ensure labeling accuracy in accordance with FDA and support the Regulatory team on applicable international regulations.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Regulatory to validate claims and positioning.
• Serve as a technical lead on cross-functional project teams including Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain.
• Support product development timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Support commercialization activities including pilot runs and scale-up validation.
• Provide technical support for existing product maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
