Vellox Product Designer

Booz Allen HamiltonMcLean, VA
$99,000 - $225,000

About The Position

Join Booz Allen as a Product Designer and help shape intuitive, polished experiences for a family of enterprise security and intelligence products. In this role, you will translate complex user needs, data-dense workflows, and technical requirements into production-ready interfaces that support security professionals and analysts working in high-stakes environments. You’ll partner closely with product managers and engineers to move from concept to shipped outcomes, using strong design judgment, front-end code fluency, and a bias for practical delivery. Your work will support a product transition from traditional workflow-first interfaces toward AI-native and agentic interaction models, including conversational UX, assisted decisioning, and workflow automation. You’ll also contribute to a shared design system across the product suite, helping define the component patterns, visual standards, and design decisions that serve as the foundation for scalable product delivery.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in UX, UI, product design, or digital product design
  • Experience shipping commercial product experiences in web-based, enterprise, or data-dense applications
  • Experience creating wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, interactive prototypes, and implementation-ready specifications
  • Experience using Figma, including components, auto layout, variables, and prototyping
  • Experience reading and writing front-end code to support prototyping, design implementation, or collaboration in engineering workflows
  • Experience collaborating with product managers and engineers from discovery through launch and post-release iteration
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA or Section 508
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and incorporate constructive feedback into iterative design work
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing agentic UX patterns, LLM-powered features, conversational interfaces, or AI-native product interactions
  • Experience contributing to design systems, component libraries, token architecture, or reusable design standards at scale
  • Experience with design tokens in JSON and mapping design decisions to front-end implementation
  • Experience designing security, intelligence, or government-adjacent enterprise software products
  • Experience designing data visualization, graph-based interfaces, or complex analyst workflows
  • Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks and design feasibility tradeoffs
  • Ability to operate at startup pace with high ownership, fast iteration, and pragmatic decision-making under ambiguity
  • Ability to show a portfolio demonstrating visual craft, interaction design, and delivered product outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive and elegant interfaces that balance visual craft, usability, and implementation feasibility across data-dense enterprise products.
  • Create wireframes, high-fidelity designs, interactive prototypes, and production-ready specifications that clearly communicate design intent.
  • Design AI-native and agentic interaction patterns, including conversational interfaces, multi-step assisted flows, and AI-driven task orchestration.
  • Translate product requirements and user needs into clear, compelling design solutions that support clarity, speed, and precision for security and analyst users.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers throughout discovery, design, implementation, launch, and post-release iteration.
  • Read and write front-end code as needed to accelerate prototyping, improve implementation quality, and strengthen design-engineering collaboration.
  • Contribute to and govern a shared design system, including token architecture, component specifications, visual standards, and design decision records.
  • Create commercial-grade design assets that scale across products and hold up in production environments.
  • Iterate rapidly based on stakeholder feedback, usage signals, and recurring design critique.
  • Ensure consistency, accessibility, and quality across user touchpoints using WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 compliance as baseline standards.
