POSITION TITLE: Product Designer POSITION LOCATION: 654 Richland Hills Dr., San Antonio, TX 78245 - 100% remote position HOURS: Full Time/40 hours JOB DUTIES: Design and support creation of product designs based on concepts established by product development and merchandising groups. Work under direct supervision of Design Manager/Senior Designer with support from Design Director. Collaborate with cross functional teams (including Asia office) to assure development success. Execute thoughtful designs that positively impact business, and overall brand presence. Monitor, research, and report on industry trends for applications to new and existing product designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Industrial Design, Product Design or related field of study and 3 years of experience in Product Design and Development within the Pet Industry.
• Designing products safe for pet physiologies that align with a product assortment and meet cost concerns to be competitive in the market.
• Monitoring industry and market trends (including color, style, detail and construction in both pet and human spaces and taking into consideration human/pet relationships) and relaying trends to teammates to develop innovations in the pet space.
• 3D modeling to include SolidWorks, Rhino, Maya or Blender.
• 2D drawing to include Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, and InDesign.
• Pen and paper, and digital (Procreate or other digital drawing application) hand sketching.
• Preparing and presenting ideas to non-technical team members and stakeholders, including preparation of visual presentations.
• Designing, prepping, and 3D printing molded products (to include slice, 3D print, and process) specific to pet physiology.
• Rapidly iterating on ideas using hand sketching, digital sketching, and rapid prototyping.
• Prioritizing multiple assignments based on business objectives.
• Computer tracking systems, to include product life management (PLM).
• Translating product requirements into functional designs keeping in mind aesthetics as well as material and construction costs.
• Creating product blueprints including product specifications, materials, functionality and design details.
