Tidepool is seeking a Product Designer for a 1-year temporary full-time role, with an anticipated start date in October 2026. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, healthcare professionals, and patients to design features that make meaningful contributions to the diabetes community. This position requires experience working on regulated medical devices and hardware/software interactions. You will lead design projects for Tidepool’s Automated Insulin Dosing (AID) System, Tidepool Loop, including designing hardware/software flows such as first-time pump/cgm setup, pump/cgm replacement, and pump/cgm error states. You will also lead design projects on Tidepool’s Data Management Platform across patient and clinician experiences, including device integrations, patient management dashboards, data visualizations, and device connection workflows. You will translate broad need statements from patients into meaningful designs, balancing usability with safety regulations and technical considerations. Partnering with Clinical, Regulatory, and Quality teams is essential to ensure design outputs meet risk and quality standards. You will communicate your data-informed vision and design rationale, with users at the heart of it, to stakeholders and team members in a compelling way. Close collaboration with product, engineering, and quality assurance engineers is expected to drive design decisions and advocate for users. You will solve a variety of product design challenges across iOS and Android experiences and support human factors activities, including formative usability studies and summative validation preparation in partnership with research and regulatory teams. Developing a deep understanding and empathy for people living with diabetes and healthcare providers is crucial, leveraging that feedback to push for product refinement/improvement. Experienced product designers are expected to work closely with product managers to craft experiences that have the intended impact on their users through novel feature discovery, feature enhancement, or collaborative feature definition. You will work closely with the product manager to define new feature concepts and influence the product strategy by establishing product and feature priorities. Proactively managing prioritization challenges with your product team to ensure design focus areas are aligned with business goals is also part of the role. You should be comfortable taking on roles outside of traditional design, including product management, and develop expertise in various diabetes hardware and software technologies to create impactful design solutions.
