Product Design Engineer

Apple•Cupertino, CA
•$207,400 - $311,700

About The Position

Apple Inc. is hiring a Product Design Engineer in Cupertino, California, and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. The role performs engineering duties in planning and designing battery packs for consumer electronics. It uses 3D modeling and tolerance analysis to design assemblies made up of multiple components, and evaluates designs for manufacturability so that build capability is incorporated into the design. The engineer supports battery-pack manufacturing by reviewing manufacturing tooling, in-process tolerance analysis, and build data. Responsibilities also include detailed assembly design using 3D CAD and drawings, and evaluating mechanical assembly fixtures to ensure designs can be manufactured. The role troubleshoots fixture, design, fabrication, and reliability issues; designs experiments to select and validate designs; analyzes performance; and reduces, visualizes, interpolates, and interprets dimensional data. International travel is required for 20% of the job. The position is 40 hours per week. The base pay range is $207,400–$311,700 per year, with pay dependent on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees may be eligible for discretionary stock awards and participation in the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Benefits include comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, discounted products and free services, and reimbursement for certain career-related educational expenses, including tuition. The role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments and relocation assistance. Compensation, benefits, and stock programs are subject to applicable eligibility requirements and terms.
