About The Position

Flock Safety is looking for a Product Deployment Specialist to join our Product Deployment team. The Product Deployment team is composed of individuals who are results-driven, detail-oriented and combine a great work ethic with critical thinking to install products that delight our customers and drive our shift to be a multi-product company. A day in the life of this role might involve traveling to install pilot devices for a new product, providing feedback on new engineering hardware concepts, and working with the Device team to solve issues in the field. Additionally, you’ll be at the forefront of surveying, deploying, and maintaining cutting-edge drone systems that support public safety agencies. You’ll support the technical aspects of DFR (Drone as First Responder) deployments, primarily focused on hardware installation, ensuring each project is executed smoothly and to Flock’s high standards. As a key contributor, you’ll collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and external vendors to optimize our deployment processes and help scale the DFR program. The ideal candidate has experience as a technician in the field with a familiarity with product operations and has demonstrated excellent leadership skills. Ultimately, a top-notch Product Development Specialist should be action-oriented with strong field work and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with fieldwork required and product development is a plus: construction, security systems, low voltage wiring, or similar (e.g. test and termination of RJ45 connectors, troubleshooting 110V/220V hardware connections
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role, offering on-site or remote technical support throughout the deployment lifecycle.
  • Understanding of hardware troubleshooting, particularly with systems like drones, docking stations, radar, and other technology commonly used in DFR deployments.
  • Knowledge of FAA Part 107: Solid understanding of FAA Part 107 regulations for drone operations, including safety protocols, airspace classifications, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Outstanding project management and communication (written, verbal) skills
  • This role requires you to be 21+ in order to rent a vehicle from preferred providers.
  • Willing to be trained to operate and drive a bucket truck and other heavy machinery (e.g. articulating manlifts, telehandler, etc) as well as drive a Dodge Promaster 1500 or similar company vehicle
  • Comfortable working on and around ladders/heights
  • Desire to work outdoors and comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets company motor vehicle standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support key field initiatives to bring products to market and scale our DFR (Drone as First Responder) program including hardware installation and troubleshooting of various components, including dock systems, aircraft, radar, and other technical elements within the DFR deployment ecosystem
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams (e.g., engineering, project management, and third-party vendors) to ensure the successful execution of deployments
  • Monitor and document the status of work in the field and in the lab
  • Proficiency with assembly, mounting, and troubleshooting of license-plate reading cameras, video cameras, and gunshot detection devices
  • Work with a bucket truck and/or ladder to work on equipment up to 30’ high
  • Provide installation pictures via Flock field app
  • Perform work in a safe and professional manner
  • Meet with customers to discuss installation options and perform site surveys
  • Communicate effectively with both internal teams and customers
  • May require installing poles of varying lengths per install specifications with digging a minimum of 8” x 24” holes
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 75 pounds in all directions
  • Communicating with others to exchange information, often over the phone

  • Take Ownership of Deployments: They will be responsible for ensuring the proper installation and functionality of hardware, including LPR cameras, video cameras, gunshot detectors, docking stations, aircraft components, and radar systems
  • Escalate Complex Issues: Triage more complex technical support issues and collaborate closely with engineering teams to provide solutions. Start identifying repeat issues and assist with creating solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Develop Support Knowledge Base: Contribute to building a comprehensive support knowledge base, documenting solutions to common problems and providing guidance for support staff.
  • Collaborate with Engineering: Work closely with engineers to understand technical challenges customers face and help resolve any bugs or issues that may arise during deployment.
  • Take Full Ownership of the Deployment Pipeline: Assume full responsibility for managing site survey assessments for active DFR deployments, ensuring the timely and efficient resolution of deployment questions and issues
  • Lead Major Issue Resolution: You have built confidence cross-functionally and are recognized for being a leading voice on our product platform (LPR, Video, Audio, Aviation) installations and maintenance.
  • Expand the Knowledge Base: Continue to develop and refine the support knowledge base, adding detailed documentation on hardware/software troubleshooting and best practices for deployment.
  • Prepare for Future Growth: Play a pivotal role in scaling the deployment team by mentoring new hires and helping build out the team’s capabilities as the DFR program grows.
