About The Position

Anthropic is hiring a hands-on Product Counsel to partner with the teams building Claude for consumers and businesses. The role spans Claude's apps, subscriptions, growth programs, and enterprise offerings, with work shifting to where the need is greatest. The counsel will learn from experienced product lawyers, get close to the product quickly, and take on increasing ownership. This is a generalist position suited to someone comfortable working at a fast pace across routine and novel legal matters. The position provides practical legal guidance from early product ideas through launch, supports consumer and enterprise product launches and growth programs, and helps teams address enterprise and regulated-industry needs. The counsel will draft and review user-facing legal materials, coordinate specialist input into integrated advice, and develop guides, templates, and AI-powered workflows. The role also involves taking on new areas as priorities shift and helping with incidents and escalations.

Requirements

  • Hold a law degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent) and meet local licensing requirements to work as in-house counsel where based.
  • Have at least 4 years of relevant legal experience, with exposure to technology, consumer, or regulated products.
  • Have experience advising business or product teams directly, not only other lawyers.
  • Have working knowledge of at least two of the following: consumer protection, privacy, advertising and marketing law, technology transactions, IP, or regulated industries.
  • Be curious about how AI products work and able to pick up technical concepts quickly.
  • Be able to make a clear recommendation even with incomplete information.
  • Be comfortable moving between assignments as priorities change and handling work of varying scope.
  • Write clearly and concisely in a way non-lawyers can act on.
  • Be open to feedback and have a track record of improving quickly.
  • Have experience using AI tools in legal work or a strong interest in learning to do so.
  • Bring empathy, a service orientation, and a genuine commitment to Anthropic's mission.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Required field of study: A field relevant to the role, as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review user-facing terms, disclosures, in-product copy, and marketing claims.
  • Coordinate with privacy, commercial, IP, safety, and other specialists and provide integrated guidance to product partners.
  • Build guides, templates, and AI-powered workflows to address routine questions efficiently.
  • Take on new areas as priorities shift and help with incidents and escalations.
