About The Position

As Product Counsel, you will be an early, versatile member of Fireworks’ founding legal team, counseling across a broad range of functions as the business grows. This generalist role supports security, compliance, go-to-market needs, and customer-facing legal matters, and helps lay the foundation for a larger counseling team. The position is suited to someone energized by variety, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited to build durable legal infrastructure. Initially, the role reports to the General Counsel. Fireworks describes its legal team as high-integrity, high-character, high-trust, collaborative, kind, supportive, and low-ego. The company builds AI infrastructure for enterprises and works with open models across text, image, embedding, audio, and multimodal workloads. Total compensation includes meaningful equity, a competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package. Base salary depends on factors including qualifications, experience, skills, market data, and work location.

Requirements

At least 9 years of relevant in-house or law firm experience.
A JD and membership in at least one US state bar.
Breadth across privacy, security, compliance, and product counseling.
Comfort operating as a generalist and handling a broad range of legal matters.
Prior experience in a hyperscaling, fast-moving environment.
A builder’s mindset suited to an early-stage, foundational role.
Strong judgment and ability to work independently amid ambiguity.
An AI-forward builder’s mindset, with demonstrated ability to use AI tools to streamline daily workflows and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

Advise and support the security team on legal matters.
Handle customer notifications and related customer-facing legal communications.
Support compliance efforts across the organization.
Provide generalist counseling across functions as needs arise, including Product, Security, and Privacy.
Build foundational processes, templates, and infrastructure for a scaling product counseling function.
