About The Position

Seismic is seeking a Product Counsel to join the legal team of a mature, fast-growing SaaS business. The role partners closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Go-to-Market teams throughout the product lifecycle, providing practical legal guidance on product development, AI, data privacy, emerging technologies, and global regulatory requirements. The Product Counsel serves as a trusted, business-embedded legal partner, helping identify and manage legal risk while enabling innovation and supporting the development and launch of market-leading SaaS products. The position also supports the wider legal team on commercial transactions and strategic partnerships, collaborates with external counsel on complex global matters, contributes to other business-driven legal projects, and provides legal training to legal colleagues and business stakeholders. The role is eligible to participate in Seismic’s incentive plans in addition to base salary. The stated annual base salary range is USD $123,100 to USD $212,300, varying according to location, experience, job level, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data.

Requirements

Juris Doctor degree and admission to at least one bar.
At least 3 years of substantive legal experience, preferably in the in-house legal department of a SaaS company.
Demonstrated knowledge of AI and data privacy laws and regulations, and a strong understanding of emerging technologies.
Experience working with and advising on AI-powered products and services.
Practical insight into customer-driven development dynamics.
Familiarity with open source and experience advising companies on open-source policy and remediation.
Experience navigating legal and regulatory complexities in global markets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships and navigate complex cross-functional initiatives.
Strong project management skills and a collaborative, proactive approach.
Understanding of the SaaS industry, its legal challenges, and the global regulatory landscape.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Curiosity and willingness to tackle new challenges.

Responsibilities

Partner with Product and Engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development to go-to-market strategy.
Identify and assess potential legal and global regulatory risks associated with products and services.
Develop and implement strategies to address and mitigate legal and compliance risks in products.
Drive cross-functional initiatives across the product development lifecycle.
Monitor legal developments in privacy, AI, financial services, and global regulations that affect products and customers, and provide thought leadership and strategic guidance to internal stakeholders.
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to product development and use, including partnership agreements, supply chain agreements, and customer-facing terms.
Work with external counsel as needed on complex matters with a global scope.
Collaborate with the legal team on company goals, including supporting commercial transactions and strategic partnerships.
Contribute to other legal projects as required by the business.
Provide legal training to legal team members and business stakeholders.
