Product Communications Lead

PolyAIAustin, TX
$175,000 - $200,000Remote

About The Position

PolyAI is seeking a Product Communications Lead to define and execute how the company's product story is communicated to the market. In a crowded Voice AI landscape, this role is crucial for clarifying PolyAI's unique value proposition, demonstrating product efficacy in production, and differentiating it from competitors. The lead will engage with key audiences including enterprise buyers (CX, contact center, and digital leaders in Fortune 500 companies), the technical and operator community responsible for deployment, and the broader market of analysts, press, and practitioners. Responsibilities include leading product launches, shaping narratives, and translating complex technical achievements (like latency, barge-in, ASR accuracy, and agentic tool use) into compelling stories for both buyers and builders. This is a hands-on, foundational role with the opportunity to build a team as the product communications function grows. The role reports to the Head of Brand, Global Web & Content Studio and collaborates closely with product, marketing, sales, and leadership teams.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product communications, product marketing, or communications at technology companies, preferably with enterprise SaaS or AI/ML products.
  • Experience leading launches for technical products sold to large enterprises, with a demonstrable track record.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and translate technical concepts for financial stakeholders (e.g., CFOs).
  • Exceptional writing skills: clear, specific, concise, and free of jargon.
  • Proven experience building functions or programs from scratch.
  • Understanding of enterprise buyer evaluation processes for AI vendors, including procurement cycles, security reviews, bake-offs, and pilot programs.
  • Strong analyst and media relationships in enterprise tech, or the ability to establish them quickly.
  • High level of initiative and low ego, with the ability to transition between strategic planning and execution within the same day.
  • A precise and humble approach to communication, especially in a category prone to overclaiming.
  • Genuine curiosity about the capabilities and limitations of AI systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Voice AI category.

Responsibilities

  • Define PolyAI's product communications strategy, including messaging architecture, proof points, and narrative arcs that align product offerings with enterprise buyer needs.
  • Lead product launches and feature announcements from conception to completion, encompassing positioning, press relations, asset creation, internal enablement, and follow-through to generate pipeline.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate technical capabilities into defensible claims and identify claims that cannot be supported.
  • Manage the customer proof engine, developing case studies, deployment stories, and documenting measurable outcomes from live production traffic.
  • Oversee analyst and press relations for product, including briefing key industry analysts (Gartner, Forrester, Opus) and building relationships with reporters covering enterprise AI and CX.
  • Develop enterprise-grade materials for C-suite and technical buyers, covering capability, security, compliance, and business case.
  • Engage the technical and operator community through documentation narratives, developer-focused content, and transparent storytelling about product functionality.
  • Create messaging frameworks applicable across sales, marketing, support, and executive communications.
  • Coach product leaders and subject matter experts to enhance their credibility as external spokespeople.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and make informed decisions regarding product differentiation.
