About The Position

The Critical Item Producibility Readiness Department strives to develop, mature, and deploy advanced product development capabilities across the Hardware Engineering discipline, enabling the business to deliver high quality work products at competitive discriminating velocity & cost. The Critical Item Producibility Readiness Department is seeking a Producibility and Dimensional Engineer. The Producibility & Dimensional Management Section works directly with Mechanical Engineering, Materials & Processes and Design & Drafting teams as well as Operations, Quality and Supply Chain peers and suppliers, to implement mechanical producibility improvements on new and emerging programs as well as upgrades to existing programs. The team executes tolerance optimization through one-dimensional and three-dimensional tolerance analysis modeling and works with the design team to influence the final design. Early engagement in the conceptual stage and throughout the development process ensures that our designs are optimized with respect to methods of manufacture.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimension & Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Experience with visVSA/Siemens VA.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Raytheon Producibility and Dimensional Management tools and processes.
  • Raytheon CORE apprentice certification or equivalent external process improvement certification, such as Six Sigma.
  • ASME Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Professional Certification.
  • Experience performing two or three-dimensional tolerance analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the hardware design team to influence design for quality via variation control.
  • Perform producibility assessments and lead Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) engagements to drive cost out of the design.
  • Leverage CAE tools such as visVSA to analyze and optimize designs.
  • Implement Measurement Plans and support supplier interactions regarding these.
  • Use three-dimensional tolerance analysis methods and tools and employ on program critical products and interfaces.
  • Engage with program design teams, communicate analyses results, and negotiate design modifications.
  • Occasional travel will be required to support supplier activities and collaborate with department/directorate peers.
