At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance. Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians. CBC News is hiring two multiplatform producers to work in our new station in Peel region. Reporting to the executive producer, the producers will oversee the station’s newsgathering resources, deciding what stories to cover, when, how and by whom. The producers will also be responsible for chasing and coordinating breaking news, programming our digital and streaming services, vetting content across platforms, and coordinating with other CBC News locations. The successful candidates will be strategic thinkers who put audience needs at the centre of their decision-making, ensuring our news content across all platforms connects our audiences to the news they need to know, the stories that affect their lives and the issues that resonate in their communities. As a producer in our Peel station, you will have a background in daily, multiplatform journalism and are comfortable conceiving of, creating and packaging content across formats, including digital, video, audio and social. You have experience assigning and managing the work of others. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are a strong planner and organizer, and are at ease with juggling multiple tasks and priorities at once. You will strive to broaden the range of perspectives and experiences reflected in our news content, especially those from people who have been traditionally underrepresented in the media. You will ensure that all our work adheres to CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and that it upholds our core principles of accuracy, fairness, balance, impartiality and integrity. You care about the people you work with and have a recognized ability to coach and motivate others. We are hiring two roles. One will generally be scheduled early mornings and the other afternoon/evenings, but flexibility to work other shifts times and days will be required. These roles require full-time, on-site presence.
