Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 year’s experience in the newsroom.
  • Excellent Written/Verbal communication skills
  • Excellent collaborative skills and ability to work well on a team
  • Ability to enterprise story ideas and work on segments from conception to completion
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail while multi-tasking
  • Ability to react to spontaneous changes in editorial priorities
  • Must be available to work onsite and during non-traditional corporate hours to accommodate live broadcasts (early mornings, weekend mornings, evenings)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multiple content distribution platforms (Cable TV, OTT, YouTube) is preferred.
  • Creative risk-taking, curiosity about the weather, and adaptability are all a plus.
  • Experience using ENPS newsroom system a plus

Responsibilities

  • Rundown creation and management with ENPS software
  • Write scripts, select video and create interesting and accurate lower-third banners for air
  • Distill complicated scientific information from multiple weather & climate sources into digestible, consumer-friendly content
  • Make decisions under pressure and convey urgent info to on-air talent and other behind-the-scenes staff
  • Produce live and taped segments from concept to completion
  • Coordinate with assignment desk & field crews to ensure the most accurate and interesting information and content makes it to air during weather events
  • Identify, research and source video clips from current and archival sources as well as social media platforms
