About The Position

The Produce Sales Associate provides quality customer service in the Produce Department, maintains department standards in accordance with the standard practice manual, maximizes sales through excellent service, and minimizes shrink through proper use of standard practices. The role supports merchandise ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, display, and unloading trucks. Associates use company systems and tools, follow company policies and food and workplace safety procedures, and help ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The position also requires completing assigned computer-based training and maintaining the required uniform and appearance.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.
Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
Ability to bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to stand 100% of the time and frequently walk short distances.
Ability to handle substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, fresh fruits, vegetables, house plants and flowers, and household cleaners.
Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level and occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist level.
Ability to meet established volume activity standards for the position.
Ability to tolerate extreme hot or cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Responsibilities

Provide fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience.
Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
Ensure merchandise ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display follow policies and guidelines.
Unload trucks for the Produce Department.
Understand and use company tools, including the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering system (CAO).
Maintain understanding of and adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
Follow food safety and workplace safety guidelines and procedures.
Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.
Report associate and customer accidents to the Manager on Duty according to established Food Lion procedures.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Wear the Food Lion uniform and apron with name badge while on duty, maintain a neat and clean appearance, and adhere to the dress code.
Complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses.
Perform other duties as assigned.
