The Produce Manager directs the operation of the produce department, including supervising and training personnel. This role ensures customer service and product quality, freshness, safety, and selection. The manager champions company and division customer service programs, handles customer relations positively, and promotes a philosophy of personalized service in the produce department. They supervise the day-to-day functions of the produce department to achieve customer service, sales, and profit objectives, and are responsible for hiring, training, and monitoring the performance of produce personnel. This includes scheduling, conducting daily inspections, rotating products, maintaining sanitation and safety requirements, and implementing effective promotional displays. The Produce Manager also controls shrink and expenses, maintains accurate records, orders and manages inventory, and ensures proper merchandising according to schematics and company policies. They must comply with all federal, state, and local health and food safety standards, check competitors, assist customers with product suggestions and suggestive selling, and ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the sales floor and work areas. The role involves resolving customer and associate complaints, maintaining confidentiality, and performing all job duties safely, accurately, and with integrity.
