About The Position

The Produce Department Manager oversees daily produce operations, maintaining standards for freshness, quality, presentation, and customer service. The role drives sales through merchandising and inventory control and involves hands-on leadership in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment. The manager sets quality standards, supports associates, and ensures customers can find vibrant, market-fresh produce.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Produce Department operations with a focus on freshness, quality, and customer service.
• Deliver knowledgeable, friendly service and ensure associates demonstrate strong product knowledge.
• Execute corporate merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays.
• Maintain full, fresh, clean, and visually appealing produce displays.
• Manage product rotation, remove damaged or unsellable items, and maintain freshness standards.
• Order, receive, inspect, and store products according to food safety and rotation guidelines.
• Manage shrink through inventory controls, root-cause identification, and waste-reduction strategies.
• Build and manage labor schedules aligned with business needs.
• Train, coach, and develop produce associates while maintaining a positive team environment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and company operational standards.
