About The Position

The Produce Department Manager oversees all operations of the produce department, ensuring high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables, exceptional customer service, and efficient team performance. The role manages inventory, ensures food safety compliance, drives sales, and leads a team to meet department goals while maintaining an appealing and well-stocked department.

The manager oversees daily produce operations, including receiving, inspecting, stocking, ordering, and merchandising. They monitor inventory, manage stock rotation, minimize waste, and maintain produce quality, freshness, and presentation. The role also involves training, scheduling, and supervising staff; addressing customer inquiries and complaints; and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including HACCP, FDA, and local health department standards.

The manager develops strategies to increase sales, meets financial targets, implements promotional displays, manages the department budget and labor costs, and works with store management and other departments to align department activities with store goals and operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily department operations, including receiving, inspecting, stocking, ordering, and merchandising produce.
• Monitor inventory levels, order produce and supplies, manage stock rotation, and minimize waste and shrink.
• Train, schedule, and supervise department staff.
• Address customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide product knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including HACCP, FDA, and local health department standards.
• Develop strategies to increase department sales, meet financial targets, and implement promotional displays.
• Maintain produce quality, freshness, and presentation in display areas and storage spaces.
• Manage the department budget, control labor costs, and optimize operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with store management and other departments to align on store goals, promotions, and operational needs.
