That's WEIS! This role is responsible for promoting excellent customer relations, continuous improvement in all areas of the department, and managing the produce department effectively. The Produce Manager takes customer orders, creates finished products in a timely fashion, schedules associates, oversees training, rewards performance, and delegates tasks to maximize profits. They also develop and implement merchandising plans, communicate with other departments, monitor competitor activity, maintain inventory records, and ensure accurate billing for deliveries. The role involves enforcing department practices, monitoring product quality and freshness, controlling department expenses, and ensuring associates follow company recipes and maintain freshness by removing out-of-code products. The Produce Manager is responsible for keeping the department well-stocked and appealing, handling customer requests, unpacking and preparing merchandise, and ensuring product is saleable, properly priced, and displayed attractively. They also maintain the salad bar and cut fruits/vegetables as needed, handle spoiled/damaged/new/discontinued items according to policy, and maintain backroom and receiving area security and organization using 5S procedures. Sanitation and adherence to health and OSHA requirements are critical, including proper trash disposal and potential cardboard baling. Cooperation with co-workers and superiors is expected, along with continuous improvement of job performance and utilization of all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). The Produce Manager may also be called upon to assist in other departments.
