About The Position

The Produce Lead provides direction for department operations, processes, and conditions. They plan, guide, and empower team members in the department’s day-to-day work, model an exceptional customer experience, and help achieve department goals by influencing peers and supporting a winning strategy. The role includes maintaining product freshness, customer service, food safety, and department standards, and may include serving as a lead in other store departments.

Responsibilities

Engage peers to provide customers with the best possible shopping experience, including an exceptional checkout experience.
Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals, maintain Meijer standards, and complete required training.
Support training new team members and cross-training high-potential talent; provide peer coaching on job responsibilities and standards to improve productivity.
Work with leadership on department schedule writing to support team member engagement, customer service, store sales, and profitability.
Monitor execution of rotation and dating policies to ensure product freshness.
Guide the team in complying with food safety standards and regulations and working safely in alignment with 200% accountability.
Lead team members in completing ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display, where applicable.
Help create an environment that supports Meijer culture, including valuing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Operate a register and handle cash when needed.
Operate powered equipment, where applicable.
Participate in period-end inventories, where applicable, to help achieve goals.
May act in a lead capacity in other departments throughout the store.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
