About The Position

Assists with the coordination and execution of department operations and work, including ordering and inventory control. Cleans, trims, packages, processes, rotates and stocks produce. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment. This role requires working a schedule informed by business needs, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position also involves maintaining food and work safety standards and engaging customers in a friendly manner to exceed expectations.

Requirements

  • Must complete and maintain any required food and work safety trainings/certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
  • Previous produce experience in a retail, farm, or grocery environment preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous ordering/inventory management experience preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office.
  • Working knowledge with ordering, inventory or other retail specific software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Orders produce products according to business needs and maintains appropriate inventory levels.
  • Guides the work of department clerks, including prioritizing and assigning work, training staff, and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Partners with the department management team to maintain excellent department conditions (appearance, cleanliness, signage, service levels).
  • Assists customers with product selection, shares product knowledge, and makes recommendations.
  • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays, and events, and implements plans accordingly.
  • Builds displays and arranges products for attractive presentations, highlighting featured items.
  • Complies with all company organic standards.
  • Maintains professional vendor relationships.
  • Completes customer special orders and provides follow-through.
  • Stocks and rotates products, paying attention to quality and expiration dates.
  • Cleans, trims, packages, prices, rotates, and stocks produce department products.
  • Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of products and culinary terminology.
  • Coordinates with Store Operations for in-store tastings.
  • Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers, and credits.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
  • Maintains organization, rotation, and cleanliness of back stock areas.
  • Participates in inventories.
  • Responds to emails and other communications in a timely manner.
  • Notifies department manager of any situations affecting customer service, safety, productivity, security, or the store.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
