About The Position

The Produce-Floral Clerk keeps the Produce Department stocked, clean, organized, and safe during business hours. The role assists customers with purchases, information, and product selection while maintaining a friendly, energetic demeanor and following the department’s procedures. Team members are expected to support sales and customer service, maintain a positive attitude, and contribute to team goals. The position includes stocking and presenting produce and floral products, receiving and inspecting shipments, maintaining pricing and promotional materials, helping run the cut fruit and vegetable program, and taking responsibility for department sales and profitability. It requires familiarity with product handling, preparation, seasonality, shelf life, and applicable Health Department guidelines. The role may involve varied work hours and physical activity, including standing and walking for extended periods, handling products and equipment, and exposure to some extreme temperatures. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency degree.

Nice To Haves

Preferred 1–2 years of grocery retail experience in Floral department processes and procedures.
Previous experience in the natural foods industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

Keep the produce department, floral area, storage area, and work area clean and safe, including cleaning shelves and products, clearing spills and hazardous debris, and sweeping.
Stock and present produce and floral products, including rotating, facing, filling, and organizing items according to department schematics and ensuring accurate tags and pricing.
Respond to customer inquiries and assist with purchases, information, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling products.
Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
Monitor point-of-purchase signs and maintain recipe cards, product coupons, promotional materials, and information about complementary foods.
Use department equipment, including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
Participate in pre-inventory preparation, including organizing back stock and ensuring tags match products.
Participate in and run the cut fruit and vegetable program.
Take responsibility for department sales and profitability.
Maintain product knowledge and knowledge of product preparation.
Walk the department regularly to ensure it remains organized, sanitary, and clean.
Perform other duties as assigned.
