About The Position

The Produce Clerk helps create a positive first impression of Hy-Vee by keeping the produce department stocked, fresh, and inviting while providing friendly customer service. The role includes reviewing merchandise for freshness, replenishing and rotating products, anticipating department needs, receiving and putting away products, and helping customers. Training is provided.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and with attention to detail.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear communication with customers and co-workers and a positive contribution to the team.
Ability to learn and apply sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience is accepted.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, assist with their needs, and provide friendly service.
Review merchandise for freshness and appearance, and replenish and rotate products to maintain quality.
Ensure adequate product supply by developing or following production lists and anticipating daily department needs.
Check in products, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe.
Remove trash promptly and assist with general department upkeep.
Order products and supplies and price products as needed.
Answer the phone promptly and assist callers.
Follow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
