About The Position

The Produce Associate assists customers in locating products and maintains the produce department, displays, shelves, and warehouse. The role includes arranging and rotating fruits and vegetables, checking their quality and refrigerator temperatures, receiving deliveries under the store manager’s supervision, and reducing shrinkage by using produce before it spoils. The associate also maintains store cleanliness and safety, including sweeping and mopping, cleaning restrooms, and removing garbage. A flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays is required.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to read at an eighth-grade level.
At least 6 months of experience in the produce area.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Advise customers where to find products.
Ensure the lights in display cases are on.
Check refrigerator temperatures.
Clean shelves and make room for incoming products.
Clean and organize the warehouse.
Arrange and rotate fruits and vegetables in the store.
Assemble and disassemble fruit and vegetable displays.
Check the quality of fruits and vegetables daily.
Reduce shrinkage by using fruits and vegetables before they spoil.
Place bi-weekly special posters next to the corresponding fruits or vegetables.
Receive fruits and vegetables from suppliers under the store manager’s supervision.
Return misplaced fruits and vegetables to their correct locations.
Handle equipment properly to extend product shelf life.
Collect garbage bags, including those from the kitchen, and take them to the outdoor trash container.
Clean the store, including the restrooms.
Sweep and mop the store.
Keep the work area clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards.
Report faulty equipment and hazards to management.
Perform other tasks assigned by the store manager.
