About The Position

The Produce Associate maintains and operates the produce department by preparing and merchandising produce according to company and department standards. The role also supports store operations and helps ensure each work shift contributes to the store’s financial best interest. The associate may be assigned other duties or tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Must be able to work with fresh fruits and vegetables without negative allergic consequences that adversely affect the ability to perform.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Detail oriented.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed, following procedures for culling, trimming, and storing products.
Weigh, package, and label products.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays.
Assist with unloading deliveries and stacking products in coolers.
Notify the Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Use suggestive selling techniques with customers.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
Maintain clean, attractive, and well-stocked departments.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines, food safety and cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
Complete other assigned duties in a timely manner; duties may include tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
