About The Position

Our Major Projects group is currently looking to add a Procurement Specialist to our growing team, based in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, we need a detail-oriented professional with a solid foundation in procurement practices and a collaborative approach to vendor and stakeholder engagement. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the procurement, storage, and distribution of goods across our operations. You will create and manage purchase orders, process receipts in JDE, and track and claim rebates, while monitoring market trends to inform purchasing decisions and building strong, lasting relationships with vendors to ensure reliable supply and competitive value.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in strategic procurement, contract management, category management, and/or sourcing within designated categories
  • Demonstrated experience issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotations (RFQs), including bid review and evaluation
  • Proficiency in JDE or another ERP platform
  • Established skills in strategic sourcing and commercial negotiations
  • Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Supply Chain Management (SCM) designation
  • Previous experience in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environment
  • Previous experience or knowledge of Powerline & Electrical Construction environment

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations
  • Drive and report on Procurement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including cost savings, spend under management, supplier rationalization, and related metrics
  • Assist with project-specific and estimating procurement requirements, collaborating with internal stakeholders as needed
  • Support organizational financial goals by tracking and reporting on cost savings initiatives
  • Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with project and operational requirements
  • Enter and reconcile receipts in JDE, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping
  • Track, claim, and reconcile vendor rebates to maximize cost recovery
  • Monitor market and commodity trends to inform procurement strategies and support proactive purchasing decisions
  • Review and support best strategies for the procurement, storage, and distribution of goods
  • Build and nurture positive, long-term vendor relationships to ensure supply reliability, competitive pricing, and service quality
