About The Position

As a Procurement Specialist 2, you will be responsible for the development and administration of a large variety of high-impact procurement activities under the guidance of a higher-level Procurement Specialist for the Department of Health (DOH). You’ll drive key processes such as commodity purchases, professional service contracts, alternate procurements, exemptions, and intergovernmental agreements, ensuring every action aligns with state laws, regulations, and policies. In this role, you will also be the liaison between the Department of Transportation (DOT), divisional staff, and lessors. Responsibilities will include managing DOH leasing folders and databases; coordinating space relocation and transitions; coordinating related services and resources; supporting customer satisfaction and responsive service; and coordinating construction project processes related to leased spaces. Requirements

  • Contracting/Procurement/Property Control: Knowledge of various types of contracts, techniques, or requirements for contracting or procurement, contract negotiation and administration; procedures for routine and non-routine purchases; practices and methods used for property control activities, including acquisition, storage, accounting, and controlled property excess.
  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.
  • Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, project management, or a related field performing property control, purchasing, contract administration, writing or approving solicitations, explaining contracting requirements, developing or approving product specifications or, developing or approving a scope of work for professional services.
  • Current permanent employment status in the classified service as defined in Alaska Statute 39.25.100.
