About The Position

Silgan Containers is hiring a full-time, fully on-site Procurement Parts Buyer in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The role supports continuous, high-volume manufacturing operations by sourcing and procuring spare parts, OEM components, production equipment parts, tooling, and MRO supplies. It partners with Plant Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Finance to help ensure plant uptime, manage supplier performance, control costs, and maintain effective inventory and MRO supply chains in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. The position also involves technical purchasing, supplier negotiations, ERP/MRP data management, and procurement KPI reporting.

Requirements

At least 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience procuring spare parts, OEM components, tooling, and MRO supplies.
Experience partnering with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment documentation.
Demonstrated success in supplier negotiation, inventory management, and cost savings.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical, or Tooling Technology; equivalent experience such as technical training, an apprenticeship, or military experience is also considered.
Exposure to metalworking, machining, or tooling environments.
Experience with JD Edwards (JDE).
CMRP certification or progress toward certification.

Responsibilities

Source and procure spare parts, OEM components, engineered tooling, and MRO materials for continuous manufacturing operations.
Interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and equipment documentation to ensure accurate and compliant purchasing.
Manage purchase orders, monitor lead times, and expedite deliveries to help avoid production downtime.
Execute strategic sourcing and cost-reduction initiatives, including supplier negotiations and agreement management.
Optimize inventory levels and MRO supply chains, and maintain accurate data and planning parameters in ERP/MRP systems.
Monitor supplier quality, delivery, and service performance and resolve issues as needed.
Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and receiving teams to support production reliability.
Track and report procurement KPIs, including cost savings, fill rate, and inventory turns, and assist with invoice discrepancies.
Participate in on-call rotations.
