About The Position

The Procurement Buyer works at the project site, preparing subcontract packages and partnering with the construction team to execute them. The role manages subcontract commercial matters from inquiry through award, execution, and closeout, and administers subcontracts in the field from award to closeout. It coordinates with Legal, Project Controls, Accounting, and Engineering on subcontract terms, progress and cost forecasts, payments, and technical content.

Requirements

• Typically 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• In-depth knowledge of work processes and tools within the assigned area.
• Operational and supervisory expertise to solve problems within the assigned area.
• Ability to interpret customer needs and assess requirements.
• Ability to work within a budget to meet operational objectives set by a manager.
• Ability to explain difficult issues and obtain agreement as needed.
• Formal supervisory responsibilities; typically does not perform the work being supervised.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial aspects of subcontracts from inquiry through award, execution, and closeout in accordance with established procedures.
• Liaise with Legal regarding subcontract terms and conditions.
• Coordinate with Project Controls regarding progress and cost forecasts.
• Coordinate with Accounting regarding payments.
• Coordinate with Engineering regarding subcontract technical content.
• Negotiate change orders and other commercial matters through closeout.
• Prepare subcontract reports in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain proper files and documentation.
• Administer field subcontracts from award through closeout.
• Supervise daily activities of business support, technical, or production staff in an assigned area.
• Set priorities, coordinate work activities and resources, and direct employees to support business objectives and meet deadlines.
• Resolve routine, standard, and non-standard problems within the assigned area.
• Manage employee performance through task assignments, ongoing skill assessment, and coaching.
