About The Position

Position Purpose: Furnishes sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment and services for the care and treatment of patients. Requirements

  • Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians while performing their job duties.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to make decisions without supervision and work collaboratively with others as a team.
  • Ability to perform under stressful situations and prioritize according to the urgent needs of the department.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical instruments and sterilization principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with surgical instruments and assisting in patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminates dirty equipment and supplies.
  • Prepares non-sterile portable equipment and supplies for use.
  • Instrument assembly: Inspects and assembles instruments in accordance with Pick card
  • Distributes and stores sterile supplies.
  • Sterilization of equipment: Loads and unloads sterilization cart and stores items in proper location.
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
