About The Position

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Processing Tech II in our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment. The Processing Technician II is responsible for set-up, operation, and maintenance of miscellaneous plating machines, processing of parts, meeting print and specification requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of manufacturing plating experience preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • After setup by others, operates various standard and specialized machines, including but not limited to Hand Blast, Auto blast, Tumble DeBurr, JenFab, Hoist Sprin Dryer, lube booth equipment, and either Cetyl A or B.
  • Operates equipment following setup completed by others and takes specific instructions to perform assigned operations.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and specifications to perform assigned operations.
  • Inspects a representative sample of each plating load to ensure proper coverage and adhesion. Will also measure plating thickness utilizing x-ray method and instruments such as micrometer, magna-gage and dermitron.
  • Performs related tasks in assigned departments, including sorting parts to separate media, defected parts, FOD and uniformity. Additionally, cleans parts free of oil and grease per departmental specification.
  • Trains other operators as required and performs tasks of equal or lesser skill as assigned.
  • Keeps the work area clean, safe, and orderly daily.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
