About The Position

Norfolk Iron and Metal Co. is hiring a Processing Specialist I in Emporia, Kansas, for a Monday-through-Thursday night shift from 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. The base wage is $18.00 per hour, with an average hourly bonus of $3.10. The role involves operating a laser, reviewing work orders, producing and packaging finished products to company and customer expectations, and performing work safely and efficiently. Candidates must pass a drug test and background check and be authorized to work in the United States.

The posting describes a wage progression tied to completed jobs and qualifications: the second job adds $1.00; the third adds $0.50; the fourth adds $1.25 and advances from Processing Specialist 2 to Processing Specialist 3; the fifth and sixth each add $0.50; and the seventh adds $1.50, advances from Processing Specialist 3 to Processing Specialist 4, and qualifies the employee as a trainer. Performing all processing job functions adds $1.75 and advances from Processing Specialist 4 to Processing Specialist 5.

Requirements

• Read blueprints, drawings, and cut lists.
• CNC experience.
• Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude in the position.
• Pass a drug test and background check.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Be able to exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and/or 10–20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

• Operate the laser with complete knowledge of its operation and perform routine cutting and troubleshooting efficiently and effectively.
• Review sales department work orders to verify quantities, specifications, process capabilities, delivery schedules, packaging requirements, and availability.
• Ensure the final product is finished and packaged to company and customer expectations.
• Perform all duties safely and efficiently.
• Communicate effectively with all company departments and employees.
