About The Position

United WestLabs Inc. (UWL) is a healthcare service company that implements and manages turn-key hospital-based laboratory outreach programs, currently operating some of the most successful hospital-based outreach lab programs in the country. UWL embraces the vision and mission of our partners to create seamlessly integrated programs. The Processing Manager is a key member of the outpatient lab services management team and plays a critical role in providing quality patient care by ensuring accurate and reliable sample processing on a daily basis. The ideal candidate has specimen processing experience, is passionate about patient care, and is an independent thinker that thrives in a fast-paced environment. The perfect candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 operation, aligning work hours with business needs. Core onsite work hours are 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. The Processing Manager is responsible for overseeing specimen processing and logistics for a multi-site partner and leads 7-10 direct reports.

Requirements

  • Clinical Lab Technology background required
  • Ability to work days, evenings, graveyard, and weekends based on business needs required
  • At least 5 years management/supervisory experience in a laboratory field required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to be flexible to changing priorities, and to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to schedule and plan workloads, implement systems and projects that align with company objectives
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and basic quality systems

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the accuracy of specimen processing and the quality of specimens.
  • Monitors employee performance through evaluations and counseling.
  • Keeps an accurate inventory and orders supplies as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and company regulations.
  • Maintains daily workflow through proper employee scheduling.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with all clients and their staff by providing excellent service and by getting involved in training and problem resolution.
  • Reports any issues to the Laboratory Manager and /or UWL Program Manager and follow through with the resolution.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Compliance Policies and explain relevant issues to clients.
  • Ensure that any supplies that are given to clients are in accordance with hospital policy and are reasonable based upon usage.
  • Responsible to treat all employees and clients with honesty, dignity, courtesy, and respect.
  • Provide support to Phlebotomy Operations as needed.
  • Act as on call supervisory resource on rotating weekends.
  • Provides accurate communication to physicians and their staff regarding the proper ordering of lab tests and with obtaining lab results.
  • Monitors that testing is performed in a timely manner and results given to the physician within established standards of turnaround time.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assume the job of any staff member in case of employee absence.
  • Demonstrates initiative by seeking to improve the performance of the program before an identified weakness becomes a problem.
