About The Position

This position performs the duties of a Material Handler and Set-Up Prep, and under the direction of a trainer, completes the required training to become a Process Tech I. The role involves ensuring workstations are supplied with raw materials, monitoring equipment operation, blending materials, cleaning and maintaining equipment, preparing tools for mold set-ups, assisting with mold installation and start-up, and performing preventative maintenance. The training component includes completing assigned work and assessments, job shadowing, reading, coursework, and specific system training. The position also requires maintaining 5-S standards, working within safety guidelines, and adapting to changes.

Requirements

  • Successfully complete the Material Handler and Set-Up coursework.
  • Minimum of 3-6 months working in the Material Handler position within Wise Plastics.
  • Self-starter who takes the initiative to complete training and coursework and takes ownership of their learning.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking in order to solve problems.
  • Attention to detail and organized.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal with ability to read written materials and follow work instructions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to work off shifts (2nd and 3rd shift).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable.
  • Able to adapt to frequent changes.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Demonstrates safe work behaviors and a willingness to improve and develop skills.
  • Must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shift.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
  • Requires use of personal protective equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing experience.
  • Use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards.
  • Experience with pallet jacks or other industrial mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Material Handler duties: providing workstations with raw materials, ensuring dryers and vacuums are operating properly, blending raw materials, grinding and blending scrap raw materials, and cleaning/maintaining dryers, grinders, and other equipment to avoid contamination.
  • Perform Set-Up Prep duties: preparing tools and peripheral equipment for mold set-ups, assisting with installation of molds and start-up activities, removing and storing molds and tools after set-up, and performing preventative maintenance and TPM tasks on mold and auxiliary equipment.
  • Under the guidance of the trainer, perform tasks associated with current training as a Process Line Technician.
  • Complete all assigned work and assessments within established timelines.
  • Maintain and continuously improve 5-S standards within the work cell.
  • Complete assignments related to training such as job shadowing, assigned reading and coursework, Wisestein and ERP training.
  • Work within established safety guidelines.
  • Operate overhead crane and electric pallet jacks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
