About The Position

The Injection Molding Process Technician is a key member of the manufacturing team responsible for optimizing, troubleshooting and maintaining injection molding processes to ensure high-quality production, efficiency and minimizing downtime. This hands-on technical role focuses on process setup, parameter optimization, mold and material handling, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced plastics manufacturing operation. You will work closely with production operators, engineers, quality assurance and maintenance teams to deliver consistent output that meets or exceeds our specifications, safety standards, and production targets. This position plays a critical role in supporting OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvements, scrap reduction and new product launches for HDPE and PP structural foam components for our enclosures division. This position will be a 2nd shift position with a work schedule of Monday to Friday 2:00pm to 10:15pm as well as overtime as needed on weekends. An initial training period will be required on 1st shift for a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • 2+ years of experience in maintenance, injection plastics processing or related industry (required)
  • Able to be licensed to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to stand, climb up and down stairs multiple times a day and be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Compliance with OSHA Health and Safety guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Trade School or an Associates Degree in maintenance or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Performing mold changeover start-ups and ensuring the production area is prepared for volume production.
  • Support Quality in documenting the first article inspection for start-ups and release to production.
  • Monitoring production by performing periodic checks of the parts and adjusting the process as needed. Monitor mold and water temperatures
  • Ensuring the process is producing in the documented cycle times and ensuring the operators are capable of keeping up with production
  • Performing minor changeovers such as insert changes, color changes and material mix adjustments.
  • Working with the maintenance and tooling group with troubleshooting the equipment and ensuring the machine is functioning properly.
  • Assisting with machine start-up and shut down according to the published production schedule.
  • Ensuring auxiliary support equipment is operating correctly and alerting maintenance to issues identified.
  • Practicing and promoting safety at all times.
  • Working with Engineering and the mold shop on special projects as needed.
  • Operating equipment to provide breaks for operators as needed.
  • Material Handling as needed.
