About The Position

The Process Technician I is responsible for identifying and stopping unsafe behaviors or conditions on the floor, reporting near misses, and effectively diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and process issues with machines, primarily in the Forming and/or Printing departments. This role involves evaluating audit sheets, identifying extrusion sheet issues, and acting as a resource for training employees. The technician will respond to escalations, communicate with stakeholders, and update Job Instructions to prevent future problems. They will also collaborate with R&D and Quality departments on new equipment standards and monitor the production floor to assist with issues and improve production efforts. Additionally, the role requires recording and monitoring data parameters of the extruder/former to control process variation and running/recording quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Tekni-Plex forming and/or printing operations, typically gained through 4-7 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting and problem solving experience specific to printing/forming operations, to include the ability to gather, synthesize and analyze data, and draw valid (advanced) conclusions in the problem solving process.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work coupled with strong time management skills.
  • Advance knowledge of computer adjustments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to include the ability to provide advanced training to others.
  • Monday- Friday- 10 to 12 hours shifts with occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and Stop Unsafe Behaviors or conditions on the floor. Escalate to the supervisor if it is needed.
  • Report Near Misses on Intelex.
  • Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot various mechanical and process issues with machines, primarily in Forming and/or Printing departments.
  • Evaluate printer/former/Extruder audit sheets, specifically heat settings and CPM audits and determine appropriate adjustments.
  • Assist with identifying extrusion sheet issues as part of the trouble shooting process.
  • Act as a resource to help train employees, specifically in the areas of problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and escalation procedures.
  • Respond timely to escalation requests and communicate effectively with key stakeholders throughout the troubleshooting process.
  • Review and update Job Instructions, as appropriate, in order to help prevent future problems.
  • Work with R & D and Quality departments when there are new standards for equipment; update and implement Job Instructions.
  • Monitor the production floor and assist with any issues to help improve production efforts.
  • Record and Monitor Data Parameters of the extruder / Former to keep in control process variation.
  • Run and record Quality inspections making sure product are meeting the specs.
