The Process Tech sets and adjusts machine controls according to established process standards and ensures efficiency levels and cycle times are sustained throughout production. The role may adjust and document process changes as needed to maintain product conformity and quality standards. The technician assists with setup and maintenance of injection molding machines, tooling, and processes; supports preventative maintenance and repair of machines, screw assemblies, molds, and auxiliary equipment; and works with engineering to improve and debug processes, tooling, and new products. The role also assists with mold verification, mold changes, and job setups; troubleshoots production equipment; monitors mold and machinery performance; and drives improvements in setup time, scrap, and throughput. The Process Tech checks production-floor operations against schedules, reviews setup sheets and process parameters, performs process-control checks, and may diagnose and correct issues during setup and production. Once setup is complete and first-piece approvals are validated, the technician authorizes full production. The role prepares equipment-repair work orders, supports mold-performance improvements, and may assume Shift Lead/Manager responsibilities in their absence. Material handling and mold setting may be required when necessary. Stuck parts are not to be removed from molds unless approved by the Production Manager and/or Process Engineer; the toolroom is primarily responsible for removal. Any operation outside the established process requires Shift Lead/Manager sign-off, written notification to process engineers for validation, and a QA hold on all parts until engineering approval.
