About The Position

Redpath Sugar is part of ASR Group, the largest cane sugar refiner in the world. You are an engineer or technologist with leadership experience in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing operation. You have a proven track record, strong mechanical aptitude, excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, and a drive for continuous improvement. You enjoy a challenge and have the energy and vision to recognize and implement improvement opportunities both independently and as part of a team with members of all levels of an organization.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree (or technology diploma) in Engineering, Process Science, or related field from an accredited college/university.
  • 5+ years of experience in Process engineering or technology, Process development, quality engineering, or manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role in a unionized environment.
  • A demonstrated ability to select and apply sound engineering practices and principles to the design and development of high volume consumer products Process.
  • Strong background and proven results in Leading Continuous Improvement efforts through the application of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma Activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in the following areas: Theory/functionality of manufacturing systems and unit operations; Continuous improvement; Statistics and analytical methods; Process measurement and control; Mechanical aptitude; Troubleshooting; Ability to understand and apply general engineering principles.
  • Manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams to challenge the status quo to achieve operational improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, develops solutions, and quickly implements their strategy.
  • Proficient skills specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are required.
  • Fundamental understanding of food standards, safety and sanitary regulations and good manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for identifying and implementing improvements in Process equipment throughput, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Manage the day-to-day issues and operations in the refinery.
  • Working closely with operational personnel to understand problems, perform troubleshooting, and develop solutions together.
  • Use strong continuous improvement skills to enhance system reliability and identify/implement productivity and cost improvements, including new technologies.
  • Show thorough understanding of the interactions between machine, materials, methods, environment, and people to provide robust operating systems.
  • Provide key technical support in capital projects and new product and Process equipment testing/start-ups.
  • Ensure safety and quality aspects of the equipment meet company requirements.
  • Provide documentation, operator and maintenance training and support.
  • Design and develop capital projects for new equipment installation.
  • Provide guidance, training, and development to supervisors and hourly operators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
