Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write accurate information on simple forms in English.
  • Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one‑on‑one and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to operate all equipment and tools used in the lab.
  • Must have knowledge of and follow plant safety, personal hygiene, and GMP rules.
  • Must be able to complete forms in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to work with or around lab chemicals and industrial cleaning chemicals used in the plant.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper use of a telephone.
  • Must have good visual acuity and normal color perception.
  • Must be able to read, listen to, and effectively communicate information to other plant personnel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time at work station.
  • Must be able to walk from work station to collection point and back to work station.
  • Must be able to walk on wet floors that may have product and oil on them.
  • Must be able to climb stairs for case checks.
  • Must be able to bend at waist, bend at knees, squat.
  • Must be able to reach knees to shoulders.
  • Must be able to perform fine finger manipulation (e.g., sorting fries, data input).
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks (e.g., writing or filling out forms).
  • Must be constantly moving or standing at relatively low exertion level, however; movement must be maintained for usually 7 hours per day.
  • At times must lift or move cases up to 40 pounds, but not for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process.
  • Compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain product quality and reliability.
  • Grades product using procedures and specifications.
  • Records and informs appropriate personnel of product quality being processed.
  • Maintains safe work practices and participates in safety programs.
  • Performs a set of functions established for each work station on a routine basis.
  • Collects data and records accurately on Q.A. forms (data input into computer).
  • Reports any irregularities of product exceeding established limits to the appropriate personnel.
  • Uses approved procedures to sample and evaluate product for attributes such as length, defects, color, texture, solids, packaging waste, case weights, case integrity, product temperatures, and additive levels.
  • Uses approved procedures for upstream color and additive control.
  • Performs weekend cleanup as required.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process.
  • Tests products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within equipment capability.
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.
