About The Position

The Process Mechanic maintains and optimizes essential process equipment at AstraZeneca’s Frederick Manufacturing Center, a biologic manufacturing facility with over 800 employees. The role supports the operation of bioreactors, centrifuges, purification processing skids and columns, glasswashers, and autoclaves. It performs mechanical maintenance such as valve rebuilds, pump repairs, agitator maintenance, motor-pump alignment, and heat exchanger repairs. The position involves working in a clean room and completing required GxP documentation. The Frederick Manufacturing Center describes a collaborative, inclusive environment with ongoing skill building and training.

Requirements

3–5 years of experience.
High school diploma, technical school, or military training and experience in a relevant field.
Ability to perform work in mechanical, pipefitting, or plumbing trades.
Detail oriented and able to complete required GxP documentation.
Ability to read, write, and use drawings, mathematics, and formulas.
Ability to read mechanical schematics and piping diagrams (P&IDs).
Basic computer skills.
Clear oral and written communication skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a clean room environment.

Responsibilities

Perform work in the mechanical, pipefitting, or plumbing trades.
Maintain and optimize bioreactors, centrifuges, purification processing skids and columns, glasswashers, and autoclaves.
Perform valve rebuilds, pump repairs, agitator maintenance, motor-pump alignment, and heat exchanger repairs.
Complete required GxP documentation.
Read mechanical schematics and piping diagrams (P&IDs).
Use basic hand tools and apply drawings, mathematics, and formulas in the work.
Work in a clean room environment.
