About The Position

AstraZeneca is hiring a Process Mechanic at its Frederick Manufacturing Center, a biologic manufacturing facility with more than 800 employees. The role maintains and optimizes process equipment used in manufacturing, including bioreactors, centrifuges, purification processing skids and columns, glasswashers, and autoclaves. The mechanic performs mechanical maintenance such as valve rebuilds, pump repairs, agitator maintenance, motor-pump alignment, and heat exchanger repairs. The position requires work in a cleanroom and completion of required GxP documentation. The posting covers Level I and Level II: Level I requires 0–3 years of experience, while Level II requires 3–5 years.

Requirements

• High school diploma, technical school education, or military training and experience in a relevant field.
• Level I: 0–3 years of experience; Level II: 3–5 years of experience.
• Ability to perform work in the mechanical, pipefitting, or plumbing trades.
• Attention to detail and ability to complete required GxP documentation.
• Ability to use basic hand tools.
• Ability to read and use drawings, mathematics, and formulas.
• Ability to read mechanical schematics and piping diagrams (P&IDs).
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Clear oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize bioreactors, centrifuges, purification processing skids and columns, glasswashers, and autoclaves.
• Perform mechanical maintenance, including valve rebuilds, pump repairs, agitator maintenance, motor-pump alignment, and heat exchanger repairs.
• Complete required GxP documentation.
