About The Position

The Process Maintenance Technician operates in full compliance with applicable hygiene, safety, quality, and regulatory standards, and in alignment with the organization’s framework, company’s procedures, and the defined scope of responsibility the role is accountable for. The Process Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) activities on production equipment and support systems within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all manufacturing assets—such as fillers, vial washers, cappers, tray loaders, formulation tanks, and autoclaves—are maintained in optimal operating condition to support reliable, compliant, and efficient operations. The technician also provides on-the-floor technical support to the manufacturing team to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other GMP-regulated industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical School (AS degree preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; basic understanding of electrical systems and instrumentation.
  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo, SAP, or similar) and maintenance documentation under GMP.
  • Familiar with aseptic or cleanroom environments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is performed following safety policies, GMP standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks by adhering to established safety procedures, completing required safety documentation, and ensuring work is performed in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance (PM/CM) on manufacturing and packaging equipment, including fillers, washers, cappers, tray loaders, formulation tanks, and autoclaves.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues to restore equipment functionality efficiently and safely.
  • Support manufacturing operations during setup, changeovers, and equipment startups to ensure smooth production execution.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical systems and process equipment, essential for the operation and maintenance of critical manufacturing systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to site emergencies.
  • Assist engineering and other departments with the design, installation, and certifications of installation and modifications to systems and equipment.
  • Identify proper spare parts inventory for critical manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose machine failure and collaborate with Engineering, Automation, and Production to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective repairs and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately and timely in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ALCOA principles.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, maintenance planning, and process performance.
  • Assist in commissioning, qualification, and validation activities of new or modified equipment as needed.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to peers and operators when required.
  • Ensure the proper use, care, and accountability of company tools, spare parts, and maintenance materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment.
  • Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and/or activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.
  • Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
  • Assist Engineering and Facility teams with small capital projects, equipment installation and facility upgrades.
  • Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives, such as safety audits, toolbox talks, or emergency drills.
  • Provide input for continuous improvement activities to increase reliability, reduce downtime, or improve energy efficiency of utility systems.
  • Participate in cross-functional training to enhance proficiency across facility and maintenance operations.
