About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel is looking for a Process Coordinator Maintenance to join our team in East Chicago, Indiana. As a Process Coordinator Maintenance, you will lead and support a team of skilled maintenance employees and contractor partners to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and a safe workplace. You will coordinate maintenance activities, prioritize critical work, respond to equipment issues, and help execute preventive and planned maintenance strategies that support production goals. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys leading teams, solving complex equipment challenges, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced industrial setting. This position is primarily scheduled on day shift, however, additional hours may occasionally be required to support business needs and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of maintenance supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 manufacturing, industrial, or production environment, including supporting operational needs across varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of maintenance supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment, ideally within a utility or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working with industrial equipment such as turbines, pumps, motors, valves, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and executing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience tracking maintenance activities, reporting results, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of hourly mechanical maintenance employees while fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operating procedures.
  • Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and ongoing safety initiatives to support a safe work environment.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with operations teams, internal departments, and external contractors.
  • Manage contractor work to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and assign maintenance work orders to technicians based on operational needs.
  • Support equipment reliability through predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and mechanical components.
  • Review and interpret work orders, blueprints, mechanical drawings, production schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with leadership and other departments to coordinate maintenance and operational activities.
  • Support planned outages, turnarounds, and equipment downtime activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
