About The Position

This role leads the technical team responsible for process optimization, process design, process control, and improvements within the Ethylene Oxide (EO) and Ethylene Oxide Derivatives (EODs) business. The primary goals are to enhance safety, operability, and reduce variable costs, while also evaluating energy optimization and efficiencies. The position supports the growth expectations of the EO&EOD businesses and ensures facilities align with current legislation and technological standards. The Process Improvement Leader also acts as the lead operations representative, safeguarding the process safety of the EO&EOD unit. This role offers high visibility through regular interaction with the management team and diverse internal and external groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline.
  • Six to Ten (6-10) years of experience in a chemical or petrochemical engineering and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in process design and process unit optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop technical professionals.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work persuasively and credibly across disciplines and at all organizational levels.
  • Proven capability to lead diverse teams and align stakeholders around shared objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Effective at prioritizing and delegating work with clear expectations, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Comfortable and effective engaging with senior leadership and translating complex technical topics into clear, decision-ready insight.

  • Strong knowledge of unit operations, heat and material balances, hydraulics, heat transfer, distillation/separation systems, and process optimization.

  • Fundamental knowledge of financial reporting, account management and contract management.
  • Demonstrated experience with process modelling software such as Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Life Saving Rules and demonstrate safety leadership through the promotion of the INEOS 20 Safety Principles.
  • Actively support all SHE activities, meetings, and audits to ensure compliance with plant policies, OSHA, PSM, DOT, EPA, and TCEQ.
  • Stop work if unsafe conditions are observed and promote commitment to operate assets with no harm to people and the environment.
  • Lead and/or participate in HAZOP and ESD/SIL reviews, ensure completion of Management of Change (MOC) and compliance action items.
  • Conduct process safety incident investigations, define actions, and support the definition and maintenance of the Operating Envelope.
  • Develop solutions for process safety issues, coordinate alarm management, and track/report status of process safety actions.
  • Promptly perform leak calculations for environmental reporting and engage with operations and lab resources to troubleshoot quality concerns.
  • Effectively communicate business strategies, plant strategies, and asset objectives/goals to the technical team and operations.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and set priorities for the technical team, establishing clear performance expectations and development plans.
  • Lead available resources across the organization and worksite to ensure team objectives are delivered.
  • Promote disciplined execution, technical rigor, ownership, and a strong work ethic, reinforcing sustainable performance through the team.
  • Prioritize and delegate work appropriately, ensuring focus on critical and high-value activities.
  • Build alignment across diverse disciplines and stakeholder groups around shared objectives and strategic direction.

  • Serve on business and site committees as needed, representing manufacturing and Technical interests.
  • Further develop and optimize the EO & EOD plants through project development related to safety, operability, growth, and business expectations.
  • Initiate project studies and front-end process design, including heat and material balances, process modeling, technical evaluations, and cost estimates.
  • Support sites' 5-year CAPEX plan, assess growth options, and energy requirements.
  • Support EO catalyst monitoring and troubleshooting, monitor and optimize energy and utilities usage, and coordinate energy reduction goals.
  • Champion variable cost projects and support EO & EOD supervision in daily operations and troubleshooting.
  • Network with other INEOS Oxide sites for applicable learnings and improvements and provide input for benchmarking.
  • Support TAR technical scope in development and execution stages, identify and optimize unit controls schemes, and develop process monitoring tools.
  • Support operating areas in the optimization of assets such as reactors, flares, steam systems, compressors, and distillation.
  • Lead by influence across the organization and site to assure objectives/goals are delivered.
